The National Police Commission conducts two sets of police examinations twice a year, one for those who are already in the police service (promotional), and another for those aspiring to enter the Philippine National Police (PNP entrance).
PNP ENTRANCE EXAMINATION
The PNP ENTRANCE EXAMINATION is open to all Filipino citizens who meet the age, height and educational requirements. Click here to view the General Qualifications
Those who passed this examination are conferred by the NAPOLCOM, the PNP Entrance Eligibility which is appropriate for appointment to the rank of Patrolman/woman, as prescribed under sec. 30 of Republic Act No. 6975, as amended by Republic Act No. 8551.
PNP PROMOTIONAL EXAMINATION
The PROMOTIONAL EXAMINATIONS are open exclusively to all qualified uniformed members of the PNP who meet the minimum qualification standards for examination in terms of rank and eligibility. Click here to view the General Qualifications – Addendum to the General Qualifications
Applicants shall utilize the On-Line Exam Application Scheduling System (OLEASS) to request the Regional Office for their schedule on the filing of examination application. Applicants will personally appear at the NAPOLCOM Regional Office on the date assigned to them, with their printed on-line Confirmation Letter, filled-out Application Form and other required documents, for further evaluation.
POLICE EXECUTIVE SERVICE ELIGIBILITY EXAMINATION
The POLICE EXECUTIVE SERVICE ELIGIBILITY EXAMINATION (PESE) is an eligibility requirement for the ranks of Police Colonel, Police Brigadier General, Police Major General, Police Lieutenant General and Police General.
The two-phased PESE examination process consists of written examination and panel interview. Both phases contain analytical questions on police leadership and police values designed to select the best future leaders in the police service.
After passing the two-phased Police Executive Service Eligibility (PESE) Examination, 263 Police Lieutenant Colonels (PLTCOL) and Police Colonels (PCOL) will be conferred with the PESE Certificate in the conferment rites to be held on April 27, 2022.

Observance of Proper PNP Attire in the NAPOLCOM premises and its offices
Director Josephmar B. Gil, MPSA, CESO IV, emphasized through a Memorandum dated July 1, 2022, the instructions by the OFFICE OF THE VICE CHAIRMAN AND EXECUTIVE OFFICER issued through a Memorandum dated January 3, 2022 which prohibits NAPOLCOM R5 personnel from transacting official business with PNP Personnel who are not wearing the GOA/Authorized uniform and sporting the prescribed haircut. Essentially, members of the PNP are required to wear the GOA/Authorized uniform with prescribed haircut when transacting official business with NAPOLCOM offices including NAPOLCOM R5.
Dir. Rañeses, New NAPOLCOM R5 Chief
Today, July 25, 2022, Director Ramon M. Rañeses assumed office as the new Regional Director of National Police Commission Regional Office 5 by virtue of Special Order No. 2022-142. Dir. Rañeses, on his first day, led the Flag Raising Ceremony and the traditional Monday Values Restoration Program. The Director then proceeded to sit with NAPOLCOM R5 Officials and personnel for a briefing where Division Chiefs, Atty. Louie E. Toldanes, CTSD and Dr. Gianelli Q. Besana, CAD, introduced the officials and employees of the Office, and highlighted its initiatives, practices, targets and achievements.
Dir. Rañeses called upon the officials and personnel of NAPOLCOM R5 to work together in order to discharge the mandate of the Commission. He called for a united and open approach in solving the problems that may arise in the office. Meanwhile, PCOL Julius D. Guadamor, Provincial Director of Camarines Norte PPO, together with key officials of his office who were awardees of the recently concluded Police Community Relations Month Culminating Activity in PRO5, paid a courtesy visit to Director Ramon M. Rañeses.
27th Police Community Relations Month Kick-Off Ceremony

The National Police Commission Regional Office 5, led by Director Josephmar B. Gil, MPSA, CESO IV, spearheaded the Kick-Off Ceremony of the 27th Police Community Relations Month on July 4, 2022 at Camp BGen Ola, Legazpi City. This year’s PCRM is anchored on the theme “Ugnayang Pulisya at Komunidad Tungo sa Mapayapa, Maayos at Maunlad na Pamayanan.”
The PCRM kick-off ceremony coincided with the regular Flag Raising Ceremony of PRO5 where the Guest of Honor and Speaker was retired J/SUPT Wilmor T. Plopinio who is now an academic author and the President of the Council of Deans for Criminal Justice Education Incorporated. Also present during the kick-off ceremony were PRO5 Director PBGEN Mario A. Reyes, RCADD Chief PCOL Jonathan O. Panganiban, PRO5 Regional Staff and several members of the 27th PCRM Technical Working Group representing different government agencies and private organizations.
Director Gil, after delivering a short message relative to the significance of the PCRM, officially declared the opening of the 27th Police Community Relations Month. A number of PNP Personnel were also awarded with medals for their commendable achievements and remarkable contributions in the enforcement of the law.
The observance of the PCRM shall be done during the month of July and shall comprise of several activities involving the PNP and the community pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 764 signed on January 24, 2005 which declares the month of July every year as Police Community Relations Month. The PCR Month celebration aims to develop closer interaction between the police and the community in handling peace and order concerns. It is an opportune time to strengthen community participation in crime prevention and also forges stronger partnership and community support in peacekeeping and public safety programs of the PNP.
